About this event
The Community Conversation Series will give TYP members the opportunity to share their own experiences and learn from others on topics related to Race, Equity, Access, Diversity and Inclusion. We will bring in speakers to lead the conversations by sharing their own experiences and set the stage for the conversations at each event. The series will be an opportunity for personal growth and learning for members and community members who join in.
Our final Community Conversation of the year will feature five panelists from all walks of the healthcare industry. They will be speaking on:
- How can we better understand historical and current challenges to healthcare equity in southern Arizona?
- What challenges to equity exist and how do we see those manifest through hesitancy in seeking care?
- What role can cultural competency play in developing trust between Tucsonans and our healthcare systems?

There may be a time when we will ask you to hold your questions or interjections if we feel space needs to be shared to allow others to weigh in.
We are an inclusive space and, at times, are tackling tough topics. There is no expectation that we all agree, we come from different perspectives and life experiences – in fact, disagreement is welcome and encouraged, disrespect or invalidating someone’s lived experiences will not be allowed.
We have created this space for participants to share their lived experiences and will not allow those experiences to be disputed as a part of the discussion.
In every event, forum, committee, team, and discussion group, we come together as collaborators. Just like when you are in meetings and task forces in your professional life, constructive disagreement is part of the collaborative process. We have BIG ideas for our careers and community and the practice of navigating these types of collaborations is key to getting things done. Hone those tools with us.
